Up- and Downstream Automation

Creating a full production system

Molding automation is not only about takeout systems. In most cases far more is required in order to achieve a cost-efficient and high quality production environment. HEKUMA offers a broad range of up- and downstream automation equipment. If parts have to be prepared for insert molding or if molded parts have to be further processed, HEKUMA's broad experience is required.

Parts Preparation and Label Insertion

Pre-processing tasks range from die-cutting and bending, to sorting, aligning, feeding of components such as electrical contacts or metal bushings. 120 contacts and more are often prepared and inserted into the mold. Label handling for IML and T-IML includes gripping and appropriate pre-forming of the labels as preparation for multi-cavity insertion.

Cavity-oriented Quality Control

The demand for automated 100% quality controlled production environments steadily increases. After molding and parts take-out, integrated testing procedures with image processing, electrical test (short-circuit, continuity, etc), tactile or laser-based length measurement and other technologies ensure 100% product quality. In many cases cavity-oriented quality assurance helps to maintain high production output even in case of defects in specific cavities.

Multi-part Assembly

Multi-part assembly frequently requires tasks like screwdriving, press fitting or ultrasonic welding. The part feeding and assembly have to keep pace with the cycle time predetermined by the injection molding process often wir high numbers of cavities.

Marking and Labeling

Parts may be decorated by laser marking, thermotransfer or pad printing. With suitable technologies  individualized marking contents may be applied.

Stacking and Packing

Stacking, banding and wrapping can be performed within the production line, with subsequent transfer to either custom designed or standardized downstream bagging and boxing systems, like tray servers, carton loading stations or automated palletizing systems etc.
